A Better Balance Rallies and Testifies at City Hall
Tuesday, November 17 - A Better Balance, along with Gloria Steinem and others rallied at New York City Hall to promote legislation currently before City Council to provide for paid sick days for all New Yorkers. The NYC Council's Civil Service and Labor Committee heard hours of testimony from A Better Balance and others, who urged the Council to enact paid sick days as a moral and public health issue.
Fanciful "Germs" Send Serious Message to Straphangers
Monday, October 26 - A Better Balance, along with NYC Paid Sick Days Coalition and the Working Families Party, organized a rally with Councilwoman Gale Brewer in Union Square to kick off the launch of a poster campaign in the subway for the pending paid sick leave legislation.
A Better Balance Policy Solutions for All New Yorkers
On February 1-2, 2007, A Better Balance co-hosted a summit with the BarnardCenter for Research on Women, bringing together researchers and advocates, representatives from labor and business, and elected officials in New York City, to discuss work/family issues with a focus on class. From this summit emerged certain themes and a consensus around the need for a comprehensive work/family policy advocacy agenda for New York City.
