Fatimah Hameed-Burne

Senior Staff Attorney

Fatimah Hameed-Burne joined A Better Balance in 2024 as a Senior Staff Attorney focused on paid leave policy. Prior to joining, she served as Supervising Attorney at the HIV Law Project at Housing Works, where she represented clients in immigration and public benefits matters, prioritizing a client-centered and trauma-informed approach to advocacy. She has also worked as a policy and litigation consultant at the Asian American Scholar Forum. Fatimah believes that social and economic justice are critically linked to health equity, and she is dedicated to advocating for policies that promote both.

Fatimah earned her B.A. from Swarthmore College and J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. At GW Law, she represented clients in the Immigration Clinic and Family Justice Litigation Clinic. She also interned at the Urban Justice Center’s Sex Workers Project and at the National Partnership for Women and Families.
