Jesse Workman joined A Better Balance in 2024. Prior to joining A Better Balance, Jesse worked as counsel to TLDEF’s Trans Health Project and as a legal consultant to the Transgender Law Center, where they advocated for access to gender-affirming healthcare and fought for better conditions for trans people in immigration detention facilities. Jesse also worked at the New York City Commission on Human Rights, where they investigated and prosecuted claims of discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations. Jesse began their legal career as a Pride Law fellow at Youth Represent where their work focused on addressing criminalization and targeting of LGBT youth and providing re-entry support to LGBT young people in city shelters and jails.
Jesse received their B.A. from Antioch College and J.D. from CUNY School of Law. While at CUNY, Jesse represented clients in the criminal defense clinic and was an active member of OUTLaws.
