Samantha Hunt is an Equal Justice Works Fellow at A Better Balance. Her two-year project focuses on ensuring that pregnant and parenting students in New York can learn in an environment free from discrimination and harassment. Her fellowship is sponsored by Merck & Co., Inc. and Covington & Burling LLP.
Samantha graduated cum laude from Dominican University of California in 2018 and earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2023, where she was awarded the Damali A. Booker for demonstrated legal advocacy, the CLEA Clinic Award for her work with the Stanton First Amendment Clinic, and the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Graduate award. During law school, she interned at the Brennan Center for Justice, the ACLU of Tennessee, and the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee. She was also a Notes Editor on the Vanderbilt Law Review, where her Note, which advocated for utilizing telemedicine to expand nationwide abortion access, was published. Prior to law school, Samantha worked for a Member of the California Assembly, staffing statewide policy issues related to employment and education and helping families navigate California’s paid family leave benefits.
