Shyamala Ramakrishna is a Skadden Fellow at A Better Balance. Her two-year fellowship will combine direct legal services, strategic litigation, and legal education to fight employers’ use of new technologies to deny New York’s low-wage pregnant and caregiving workers their rights.
Shyamala graduated from Yale Law School and has a B.A. from Yale College. In law school, she was on the boards of the Law & Political Economy Society and the Women of Color Collective. She interned at TakeRoot Justice as a Peggy Browning Fellow, at the union-side law firm Cohen, Weiss & Simon, and at the New York Regional Solicitor’s Office of the U.S. Department of Labor. Before law school, she was a policy fellow for the State of New Jersey working to hold employers accountable when they use algorithmic tools to hire, fire, and surveil workers.
