About the campaign to pass paid family leave in New York:

A Better Balance was a leading member of the coalition that fought for and won New York’s groundbreaking paid family leave law. We worked tirelessly for years alongside our partners to ensure the strongest law possible, including educating the public and lawmakers, serving as drafters and legal experts to the campaign, organizing workers and advocates, and rallying business leaders. We collected and delivered more than 13,500 petition signatures, lifting up the voices of workers and families across the state. After the law was passed, we led the drive for the best possible regulations to ensure workers’ rights are protected.

About our enforcement work:

A Better Balance has been there every step of the way to pass New York’s paid family leave law and we’re not stopping now. Through our Family Leave Works campaign, we’re connecting workers with the information they need to know their rights using our website and educational materials. We’re also training workers, health and social service providers, and community stakeholders across the state on the law. We provide free and confidential advice, information, and assistance in navigating the program in English and Spanish through our legal hotline, 1-833-NEED-ABB.
