Last week, our Southern Policy Intern, Berkley Bell, attended a lobby day at the Georgia State Capitol hosted by our partners at 9-to-5 Georgia. Advocates and community members from all around Georgia gathered at the capitol to watch proceedings and urge representatives to pass policies to support working families, including HB 1010, which will double the length of paid parental leave for Georgia state employees and educators. Thanks to these efforts, the bill passed in the Georgia House of Representatives the next day with strong bipartisan support! We are pleased with this positive momentum, and as Steering Committee members of the Georgia Coalition for Paid Leave, we are committed to continuing to advocate for full access to paid family & medical leave for all Georgia families.
